Edmond City Council Approves 2026–2027 Budget and Extends Data Center Moratorium
Edmond leaders took significant action in early June, approving the city’s Fiscal Year 2026/2027 budget and placing a moratorium on new data center applications through December 31, 2026.

City Council Budget and Infrastructure Decisions The Edmond City Council voted 5-0 to adopt the budget following a transparent process that included public hearings. Council members praised staff for improvements in budget presentation and fiscal diligence. The budget includes funding for critical infrastructure, such as Phase 3 of the Arcadia Lake Water Treatment Plant improvements, which will expand capacity from 12 to 30 million gallons per day.

Support for Local Nonprofits and Community Services Additionally, the council approved agreements totaling over $1.4 million for local nonprofits through the Community Agency Review Commission (CARC) and other allocations. Recipients include Edmond Mobile Meals, Edmond Public Schools Foundation, Ministries of Jesus, Peaceful Family Solutions, and others supporting community enrichment, homelessness services, and family support.

Data Center Moratorium and Long-Term Planning The data center moratorium reflects community concerns about large-scale development impacts while the city evaluates long-term planning. No pending applications were noted at the time of the vote. Edmond Public Schools continues to partner closely with the city on education and community initiatives.

These decisions underscore Edmond’s commitment to balanced growth, quality of life, and support for residents and local organizations. Residents should stay informed through city channels and public meetings.
