Obituary For Casey Joe Elliott

Casey Joe Elliott, of Boynton, OK, passed away at his son and daughter-in-law’s home in Henryetta on January 1, 2026.

Casey was born on June 30, 1942, the son of Joseph M. Elliott and Cora L. (Harms) Elliott, in Windsor, MO. He grew up on the family farm east of Windsor in Pettis County, MO. At an early age, he learned how to work on the farm by helping with poultry, hogs, beef and dairy cattle and operating farm equipment for grain and hay crops. He showed signs of being a gifted mechanic as an early teen.

He attended Brandon Methodist Church, joining at age nine when he was baptized in nearby Flat Creek.

His parents were community leaders of the Windsor Willing Worker 4-H Club in which Casey was an active member for nine years and served as president during his senior year.

Casey attended Maple Grove, a one-room, rural school east of Windsor until he attended Windsor High School, graduating in 1960. He was active in FFA, participating in dairy and grain projects, and served as Vice President in his junior year, President his senior year and was named as the Outstanding FFA Member at Windsor High School for which he received the Kellogg Agricultural Award. Casey and a classmate received the first State Farmer degrees awarded to Windsor FFA students under the present FFA charter in 1960.

When his father was diagnosed with cancer in 1954, Casey took on an increased share of the farm responsibilities. In 1958, when his father was no longer able to work, Casey did it all – planting, harvesting and caring for dairy and beef cattle operations on the 200-acre farm while attending high school and maintaining his scholastic achievements.

After graduating, he continued farming until 1961 when he enrolled in Nashville Auto-Diesel School (now Lincoln College of Technology), receiving a diploma in Auto & Diesel Mechanics. He was employed in diesel repair in Nashville while he continued another year to complete advanced studies.

Casey returned to Windsor, MO in 1964 and opened the Elliott Service Center, repairing auto, truck, and tractors at the family farm on Brandon Road, soon moving the business to town on South Highway 52. He later worked as the service manager for a large diesel truck dealership in Sedalia, MO. In 1969, Casey and his family moved to Claremore, Oklahoma where he was employed as a diesel mechanic in the Tulsa area for a short time before starting his own business in the heavy construction/ excavation industry. He used this experience to respond to the devastation caused by Hurricane Celia in Corpus Christi, TX in 1970, helping the community recover.

In 1984, he again answered the call in response to the Morris tornado, bringing him to the Okmulgee area, leading to him becoming the Operator of the Okmulgee Landfill. He continued in this role until 2012 after 28 years of continuous operation. Casey was a respected operator of the landfill, and his expertise was demonstrated by the number of counties and states he served as a landfill consultant. After leaving the landfill business, he continued working in the excavation and roll-off waste industry until his health forced him to quit in early 2025.

Casey was an avid reader of western novels and liked to vacation with family in the western states in his spare time. His family spent the summer of 1957 in Yellowstone National Park, after his mother won a National Science Foundation grant to attend classes, which sparked a life-long love for the outdoors.

He is survived by his children: Becky Harmon, Lebanon, MO, Robin Elliott, Okmulgee, Jason Elliott (Kristi) of Rogersville, MO; Ronda Hatton (Kevin) of Johnstown, CO, Misty Elliott-Brown of Ft Collins, CO, Kimberly King (Elijah) of Johnstown, CO, Shawn Elliott (J’Rie) of Stanton, KY, Sara Edmundson (Wendell) of Henryetta, and Joseph Elliott (Brittany) of Henryetta as well as 27 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister Glynna Elliott Morse, nieces Julia Morse, and Kathleen Morse Bariteau (Bill) and 11 Harms first cousins.
